How to Use a Paddleboard Cart
Carrying your paddleboard can be a physically demanding task, especially over long distances. Here’s where a paddleboard cart comes in as your ultimate carrying companion!
This blog focuses on using a double paddleboard cart, but the concept applies to single carts as well.
Avoiding Hip Pain: The Butt-Saving Tip
Before diving into using the cart, here’s a crucial tip: carry your paddleboard on your butt muscles, not on your hip. This distributes the weight more evenly and helps you avoid painful hip bruises.
Cart Time! Load Up your SUP
- Place your paddleboards into the designated slots on the cart. Make sure the back end of each board protrudes further than the front. This prevents the straps from loosening during your journey, especially when traversing bumpy terrain.
- Secure your ankle leash by wrapping it around the cart’s center pole. This keeps it from dragging through mud, sand, or grass and getting dirty.
- Push the two boards together, ensuring the deck pads face inwards and the fins face outwards.
Strapping Down your Paddleboards
- Buckle Up: Grab the strap and loop the buckle over the top of the boards.
- Under and Over: Thread the remaining strap underneath both sides of the cart frame. Then, fold the excess strap over the top and repeat the process on the other side.
- Tighten Up: Thread the loose end of the strap underneath the buckle and pull firmly to secure the boards tightly.
Now you’re ready to roll (or in this case, push) your paddleboards with ease! The cart takes the weight off your shoulders, allowing you to effortlessly transport your boards to the water’s edge.
By following these steps and utilizing a paddleboard cart, you can transform your paddleboard transport experience into a breeze, freeing you up to focus on the real fun – enjoying your time on the water!
